Beginning of a Journey

When I started writing my first romance novel in 2021, the road appeared straight and simple to traverse. My naiveté is amusing when I reflect back on that early part of my writing career.
Well, I have been enlightened! With every step I have been surprised by the difficulty of my undertaking, while amazed by my own fortitude: the completion of the first draft of my manuscript (yay!), editing, querying, editing, deciding to self-publish, more editing... No need to belabor the point, this journey has been difficult, thrilling, and fulfilling all at once!
I have been a romance (more specifically, historical romance) fan since I was handed my first Kathleen E. Woodiwiss novel at a (probably too) young age (check out my favorite: So Worthy My Love). Since then I have read Harlequin novels, popular series like Outlander, all the books by Julia Quinn (one of my favorites is The Lost Duke of Wyndham), and every thing in between. I even throw in the occasional contemporary novel now and again (right now I am loving the Kings of Sin series by Ana Huang). I have gone through stints of mystery, thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, but the theme of my fiction choices in adulthood remains: Historical Romance is my absolute favorite genre and for good reason! Bridgerton, anyone?
Thus it seemed natural, nearly four years ago, to write books in this genre, with my own flare and a definite nod to the people before me and my contemporaries.
I hope you will join me on my journey to publish my first novel and beyond. My books are not simply romance: there is intrigue, modern themes, and so much more!
